Fun, Fun, Fun!!

So...the job in Michigan was delayed six weeks and my father-in-law paid for the family to fly home to kill the time! Elle did really good on the airplane. It was kind of neat. We were sitting at the gate in the Detroit airport, watching out the window as they were refueling and readying our plane. Trent turns to see the person that has come to sit next to him. Well...it was the pilot of our plane. He said, "Your little girl is as cute as a button! I could see her from the cockpit of the plane and had to come see her in person!" He then offered to let her ride up front with them, but told us it would be $300 a pound, joking with us of course! We thought that was kind of a fun thing!! My mother-in-law picked us up at the airport and brought us "home". We had not told anyone that we were coming home - so it was a big surprise for my whole family!! Now that we have been back for a few days, we got word on the job situation. So...not only did the job in Michigan get delayed six weeks, we found out today that we will not be returning to that job. I know...I don't know if I am cut out for this stuff!! So it looks like we will be heading straight to South Dakota. Only problem is...our trailer is still in Michigan. We are going to have to try and change our plane tickets and then drive both our trailer and our Honda to South Dakota. It makes me laugh, I mean, what else is there to do!! On a good note, the job in South Dakota is supposed to last at least a year! Our section of the line will end in Nebraska next spring sometime!! What can I say...Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

New Friends

So...I always knew that being a member of the church has many benefits. In fact, as I thought about it, every job that I have ever had (minus one) I have worked for members of the church. They were not all active, but all members, none the less. Recently, I have been blessed to find friends wherever we may be. Last Sunday, I recognized a girl that just happened to be in one of my single's wards at BYU. Her name is Bethany. She recognized me too!! As we talked, she asked for my number and even called me this week. She was having some other ladies over to just chat and have some lunch and let all of the kids play together!! This was so much fun. And just being members of the church we have lots in common and much to talk about. Elle really enjoyed herself as she was jabbering the whole time; thinking, I'm sure, that she was communicating. She finally got tired and just fell asleep on her blanket. We talked for hours and then I decided that I had better get back home. Hopefully, we will have many more little outings...maybe I'll even have them over to our trailer!!

Valentine's Day 2009!!

Here are some pictures from our valentine's day this year!! I had Trent's little gift on the couch ready for him this morning when he woke up for work. I was asleep, so I didn't get to see his reaction...but the usual "good-bye kiss" this morning, was anything but "usual"!! Hee Hee!! Then...when Elle woke up, she noticed her shiny red bag right away!! I should have known that the bag and the bow would be her favorite! Then...I had an unexpected knock at my door this morning and it was...flowers from my sweetie!! I'm really starting to like this day!! The bigger pidture is Elle helping mommy make chocolate covered stawberries...again, playing with her new favorite toy - the whisk!!

This is a picture of my handsome and talented husband, Trent!! He is in the backyard of our house in Springville...re-landscaping!! He got to show me his skills by running machinery to bring in the fill and top soil, create the perfect slope away from the house, install an underground sprinkler system, design and build a garden, and finally...frame in a new concrete patio!! He is so wonderful...and a serious handyman!! Love you, honey!

Big Bad Wolf

So last night, as we were watching American Idol, we kept getting severe weather warnings at the bottom of our screen. Of course it included our county and it warned of high winds. I thought "no big deal...what's a little wind". HOLY COW!!! I seriously thought we were going to blow away in the middle night!! I think Trent was a little worried himself. I even got up and took a look outside - - it was scary!! The big bad wolf was huffin' and puffin', but our little house is still in one piece. The winds, apparently, reached between 40-50 miles an hour!! It is still blowing now, but only around 25 mph...only. It is still shaking us pretty good!! Gotta love it!

The Monroe Ward

So I looked up when and where we had church. It turns out to be about ten miles away, in a very small meetinghouse. We pulled in about ten minutes before the meeting was supposed to start. Trent thought that we must be in the wrong place, because outside of our car, there were about three other cars in the parking lot. We decided to go in and check things out. The chapel/gymnasium is the first room you come to. The chapel was so small it did not have pues, but individual padded chairs. When I say padded, I am being very generous! Poor Trent has Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, and Priesthood all on those chairs. Luckily, Relief Society has it's own room and your typical RS comfy chairs!! People were very friendly...and it turns out that my neighbor I met while taking out the trash is LDS!!! I think she was more excited than I was. She started crying when she saw us come in. She is divorced and lives alone with her dog. She snuggled up to Elle like she were her own granddaughter - it was pretty sweet!!
So I went to make Elle a bottle this morning and found a VERY small trickle of water coming from the faucet. I asked Trent about it before he went to work and he said that everything on our end looked good, and that I needed to call the park manager. Come to find out that there had been a water main that busted in the middle of the night and they had to turn off the water in the entire park. This put a damper on my day's agenda. I had the car and Elle all packed up with two weeks of laundry in tow, when I heard the news. Maybe I will have better luck tomorrow!!

Daily Doings

So Elle is getting used to her new surroundings. Although the first picture looks like she is crawling, it is actually misleading. I put her in that position and she lasts for a couple minutes, but then ends up on her belly. I hear that I should not want her to crawl already, but as a first time mom, I think I am going to learn the hard way. The second picture is Elle in her new bathtub. We only have a shower in our fifth wheel, so Grandma Savik bought Elle her own little tub. It fits in the bottom of the shower and now she can still play with her little toys...she seems to love it!! And the final picture was taken of Elle this morning. She hit the sixth month mark and she looked so darn cute...I had to take a picture!! I think she is going to get sick of mom fast. Today, Trent went into work for four hours and she was so happy when he got home!! While I was taking out the trash, I met our neighbor, Yvonne. She was walking her dog, Slick, and told me that she would love to go on walks with me when it starts to warm up!! Trent was amazed I could make a friend so fast...he also told me to be careful of who I become friends with!! She told me that she had to prepare a Sunday School lesson and that she also teaches the Young Women...not sure if she is LDS, but it is a possibility! We will see tomorrow!!

Home Sweet "Freezing" Home

So we arrived in Michigan yesterday and I think the only other person more excited then me was little Elle!! We spent the rest of the day unpacking and setting up house...then I cooked some elk steak and mashed potatoes for dinner! It was kind of nice not to have to eat out for a change. Apparently, it was negative eight degrees last night...brrr, but the camper stayed nice and toasty! I took a few pictures to show where we are at!

On the Road Again!!

So, today is day three of our journey to Michigan! We pushed really hard on our first day, because we knew it would be Elle's best day in the car. We were right! She had two pretty major melt downs yesterday, so we were very thankful to stay with family last night in St. Louis! Elle was able to spend a few hours standing on her legs and jumping around before she had to go to bed! She also had her best night's sleep, last night...which means a better night's sleep for mommy, too! We have been driving for two hours already this morning and she has been sleeping since we left! We are currently in Illinois - headed to Indiana - then to Ohio - then to MICHIGAN!! One thing this trip has taught me...my love of the mountains! It is so flat out here!

In The Beginning!

I figured by starting a blog I might be able to chronicle all of our upcoming adventures. This way at the end of every month, I can print it out and put it in a binder. I figure this should keep my father happy, who is always encouraging his children to keep a journal. So Trent and I were married on August 31, 2007 and we bought and moved into our first home in Springville, UT. We decided that we wanted to finish the basement and so Trent's skills were quickly put to the test! Of course, he did nothing but amaze me with everything he knows. He tried to teach me a few things, but mostly, I was a good cheerleader. In the middle of all of that excitement, we decided it was time for us to start our family. A short time later, I was pregnant and we were busy prepping for the upcoming adventure! After finishing the basement, Trent needed another project, so he decided to re-landscape the back yard. He put in an underground sprinkler system and buildt a beautiful garden with my dad. I was busy inside painting the nursery!! Doing the little projects helped the time fly by and before you knew it, it was time for baby Elle's arrival. Trent had taken a job in Colorado eight days before Elle was born. He flew home the day before I was to be induced. It was a good thing he came home when he did, because when my dad was on his way to the airport to pick him up, I went into labor. When Trent got home, he basically just switched vehicles and took me straight to the hospital. Elizabeth (Elle) June Uresk was born on August 5, 2008 and is the love of our life!
